Tips for using rock drills to improve operating efficiency and safety

As key equipment in geological exploration, mining and infrastructure construction, the operating skills of rock drills directly affect operating efficiency and safety. Mastering the correct use method can not only extend the life of the equipment, but also reduce the occurrence of failures and improve the overall construction progress.

First of all, equipment inspection before operation is crucial. Before starting, it is necessary to confirm that the various components of the drill are firmly connected, the hydraulic system is leak-free, and the drill rod is not bent or worn. Regular lubrication of key components such as drill rod bearings and gears can reduce friction losses and avoid downtime due to mechanical failure. In addition, checking the wear of the drill bit and selecting the type of drill bit suitable for the hardness of the rock can effectively improve drilling efficiency.

Secondly, during operation, attention should be paid to the matching of speed and feed pressure. When the rock hardness is high, the speed should be appropriately reduced and the feed pressure should be increased to avoid failure of the drill bit due to overheating or excessive wear. On the contrary, in softer rock formations, the speed can be increased to speed up drilling. Operators need to adjust parameters based on real-time feedback to avoid equipment overload or drill bit jamming.

Safety protection measures should also not be ignored. Operators should wear protective gear, such as helmets, goggles and earplugs, to avoid splashing gravel or noise. Warning signs should be set up around the drilling rig to prevent unauthorized personnel from approaching. Regularly check the electrical lines and hydraulic systems to avoid safety accidents caused by leakage or hydraulic oil leakage.

Finally, maintenance after shutdown is equally important. After each operation, the surface and internal debris of the drilling rig should be cleaned to prevent rust or blockage. When it is out of use for a long time, the power supply should be cut off, the hydraulic oil should be drained, and the equipment should be covered to prevent rain erosion.

Mastering these rock drilling rig usage skills can not only improve work efficiency, but also ensure construction safety. Whether it is geological exploration or mining, the correct operation method is the basis for ensuring the smooth progress of the project.
